Lowering a vehicle is a four stage process that includes the following attributes banded into 25% stages.
Stage 1) Front Springs
Stage 2) Lowered Leaf Springs
Stage 3) Adjustable Brackets
Stage 4) Lowered Rear Shock Absorbers
Many customers choose to lower their vehicle using the first two stages and omit stages three and four due to cost. This can have consequences if a customer continues to use the original Ford parts as the ability to adjust the vehicle’s height if carrying a load and setting the shock absorber damping ability is not possible thus creating a rough ride. This may include rear shock absorber bottoming and bumpstop knocking.
